How old are the garages in Saticoy?
Older than almost anywhere nearby. Census estimates put the median home in the unincorporated community at 1949, and about 39% of its homes were built before 1940. A County historic survey records older properties here with single-car and two-car garages set at the rear of the lot, and it notes that no postwar tracts were built in the community itself. Those rear garages often date from long before automatic openers were common, and some may still have doors that were never motorized. Expect us to look at the framing around the opening as closely as the door, since an old header decides what a new door can safely hang from.
